A short paved walk, 10-15 minute from the parking lot, takes you up to the best viewing spots. The walk is uphill, but not overly difficult.

The adventure starts with a scenic drive along the Icefields Parkway, one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Watch out for wildlife, Bears, Elk, Deer and more are all regulars along the parkway.

Peyto Lake is renowned for its unique wolf-head shape when viewed from above, and its striking color, which is the result of glacial rock flour. This natural wonder offers numerous vantage points, each providing a different perspective of its beauty. I have meticulously scouted the area and more secluded spots along the trails, selecting locations that would highlight the lake’s vibrant hues and the surrounding landscapes, whilst avoiding the huge crowds that can build.

I love to start a session early in the morning to capture the soft, golden light of dawn. The tranquility of the early hours, combined with the stunning surroundings, created a magical atmosphere. If you’re more of a night owl, sunset is another beautiful time at Peyto Lake. On a clear evening the colours can be incredible.
